Giving Back: The Heart of Carolina Food Drive

Assisting North Carolinians who are in need has always been a priority for our staff. As a part of our ongoing commitment to serving the communities in which we work, the Law Office of D. Hardison Wood is partnering with ABC 11 Eyewitness News to co-sponsor the annual Heart of Carolina Food Drive, a two-and-a-half-week drive focused on helping those living in the heart of the state—right here in the Triangle and out to Fayetteville.

The goal of the Heart of Carolina drive is to help provide food for more than 560,000 children, parents and grandparents currently at risk of hunger for the holidays and on into the new year. The drive will benefit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina, and businesses all across the heart of the state are coming together to try to raise six million pounds of food for these families. Hardison Wood

Last Friday, our staff joined many other companies and sponsors in the Triangle area to kick off the drive a at an official launch event. (You can watch a video highlighting the kick-off here on ABC 11.) We were honored to be a part of the launch celebration, and are excited to see how much food we’re able to raise for families in need this holiday season.

Hunger is a year-round issue all across the country. We can all help make a difference. If you’d like to contribute, please visit the Heart of Carolina Food Drive site for specific drop-off locations, and to view the lists of items that are needed most. Food banks are always in need of non-perishable foods like canned vegetables, peanut butter, canned tuna and more, as well as cash donations. The last day to donate will be Wednesday, Dec. 11—also dubbed “Drive-Thru Day,” where several participating locations will be encouraging residents to drive through and drop off various donated goods all day long as the last major push.

If you have any questions about how to get involved in the Heart of Carolina Food Drive, contact our office today!
