Cary Crackdown on Aggressive Drivers

The Town of Cary Police Department has stepped up its enforcement in an effort to combat aggressive driving on US-1 between Cary Parkway and Walnut Street.

On December 19th from 10am to 3pm drivers can expect an increased officer presence along that corridor. Lt. Tracey Barker of Cary's Traffic Safety Team stated that "This one-day enforcement blitz isn't about ticketing; it's about educating drivers and improving the safety of all who travel one of Cary's most popular corridors."

The overall effort is one part of the Operation Reducing Aggressive Driving and Recklessness (RADAR). In addition to this one day enforcement effort, Cary has also set up a "Road Watch" hotline that can be reached at 919-319-4521 so motorists can report aggressive driving and other issues. If multiple complaints and calls are received for a certain area, the police will respond by stepping up monitoring of the area to enforce the law.

This program is just one of many designed to increase the safety of those driving in Cary. Other programs the town participates in include Booze It & Lose It, Operations Slow Down / No Need 2 Speed, Click It or Ticket, School's In / Speed's Out, and Operation Safe Shopper.
