An accident on Friday night took the life of another young driver, though circumstances remain slightly unclear as to what happened.
Cody Matthews was driving nearly 50 miles per hour over the posted speed limit of 45 when he took a curve and lost control. His rear end struck a tree, occurring a little after 2am, according to a News & Observer story. Matthews wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and at this point it’s unknown whether drugs or alcohol were an issue in the crash.
These types of crashes illustrate the importance of proper driver education and safety, since another car on that road could easily have resulted in a motor vehicle accident or wrongful death.
