Man Injured, Trapped Underground

A man was injured while working at a Fuquay-Varina waste water treatment plant after getting trapped 15 feet underground. Plant employee Dan Hackney was replacing equipment underground when he got his leg caught in the machinery. Other workers with him were not injured and went for help. DOT Worker Killed In Dump Truck Accident

A Department of Transportation worker was killed yesterday while clearing debris and sand from a section of N.C. Highway 12 following Hurricane Sandy. The storm had inundated the area with sand, forcing crews to clear the area before drivers were cleared to return.
